Over the coming year, our pastorate will be joined by a new face! Meet Father Ignatius (Iggy) Theophorus. Children in Faith Formation at Sorrowful Mother and St. Cecilia had fun coloring their own Father Iggy to take home on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17. Throughout this year of Eucharistic Revival, our Pastorate will be learning about the Eucharist with the help of Father Iggy.
Father Iggy is named after Ignatius Theophorus of Antioch, an early church Bishop who worked to teach others about the importance of the Eucharist. St. Ignatius was a disciple of St. John the Apostle and lived in first-century Syria. He wrote of the Real Presence of Lord Jesus Christ--Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity--in the Eucharist and called Communion the “medicine of immortality.”
